Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size trailer do I need for my boat?

To choose the right trailer, match it to your boat's overall length, hull type, and weight (including motor and gear). Most trailers specify the boat length they suit (e.g. 3.5–4.3m). Choosing the right size ensures proper support, safer towing, and easier launching at ramps or beaches.

  • Are boat trailers required to be registered in Queensland?

Yes. In Queensland, all boat trailers must be registered if used on public roads. Trailers with an ATM under 750kg require basic registration, while heavier models need roadworthy components like brakes and lights. Check your trailer’s specs and visit the TMR website to confirm current requirements.
